Tree Huggerz - Outdoor Concepts Inc.,

By Mike England

If you’re like me, you tend to scrutinize the amount and proximity of tree limbs when selecting a backcountry campsite—between wet clothes and the abundance of miscellaneous gear, you just can’t have too many hanging spots. Well the campsite selection process just got easier. Outdoor Concepts has a simple, ingenious device called Tree Huggerz that wrap around just about any sized tree trunk, providing enough hooks and pouches to hold all your assorted hunting gear, clothing, and whatever else you’ve hauled into the woods. No more scattering binos, calls, water bottles, hand towels, and headlamps around camp—the Tree Huggerz holds it all tight to one trunk. Two mesh pouches accommodate cell phones, walkie-talkies, bug spray, or a GPS, while slots between hooks hold knives and other slender items. I used one high in the Lee Metcalf last fall and the 14.5-ounce addition to my pack was well worth it—I even hung my rifle from the thing and both the fabric and hook held firm. Outdoor Concepts also makes an ultralight version that is much lighter but less rugged; the clip snapped when I cinched it down hard. $20; tree-huggerz.com
